Greetings family, friends and fans. Sapphire Lane have decided that we are going to go on a short hiatus of a year or so as we all need to focus on different things that have lately meant that the band has been pushed aside. We believe that taking some time apart from the band will regenerate our passion for playing these songs and will allow us to regain that commitment that make every performance a great one. It will also give us time to write and prepare new material for the future.

We have recently been lacking in the rehearsal area which is an essential for all bands to keep to a regular slot, this has lead to a lack of us wanting to book gigs as any performances would be sub-standard and would not show us off how we want to be viewed. We will each take the time to focus on other projects, college work, jobs or whatever else needs to take the priority at this moment in time.

We thank you for your support over these roller-coaster 4 years. We have loved seeing different cities, studios and making friends with some awesome bands along the way.

Thanks for the good times and see you when we see you.

Just a quick note! By Dastill!

I'd like to make a quick note and just add my own opinions and such as of late :)
Firstly I'd like to say it was with great sadness that we had to release Ashley Cleaver, of his position in the band, we all know he's a brilliant drummer and wish him the best for the future, but we would also like to with a warm welcome announce that we do have his replacement :) photos of taken the other day should be released soon, and I believe in the diary entry we did state his name was Ash, I don't really know how much I can get away with saying just yet so I'll leave it at that :) I'd also like to just say I've had a brilliant week with the band in all honesty, I'll admit now before this previous week I've had my doubts about things and was actually considering my place within the band, but this past week, All my doubts where lifted and demolished by the strong power of rock n' roll!

I'll begin by saying although there was complications at the practice on Wednesday last week (complication being my bass string snapped, seriously!? its only me that happens to) I really enjoyed myself, I thought the overall sound was brilliant, I love the new atmosphere around the group itself, I think we reached our lowest low, and now we've risen from that and everything has become brilliant again (my opinion, of course). Ash (the new Ash) is a bloody talented drummer, he's not even been playing as long as some of the others we auditioned, but believe me, he'll blow you away with his skills, he's got everything right, in a week he's ran through the songs and got them damn near perfect. This of course made us all very happy about raised the spirits anyway.

Then came Thursday, I always like the Diamond as a venue as I get to see some old friends and its quite a big stage with a loud PA and everyone gets to hear everything, but I've gotta say, on this night, I was quite literally blown away, the gig was actually amazing, Megg sounded absolutely perfect, Luke did also (Do believe I saw a smile or two, and some definite movement!) and Lewis, bless him, had to leave his beloved guitar and become a tub tapper for the night, but I've gotta say, Lewis is a great drummer, and has vastly improved over the years I've known him, and it also helps that with his long hair and drastic stage performance, I'll say we could compare him to one of two people, Dave Grohl or Animal, I don't actually know which of the latter he'd prefer, but either way, he was rocking out behind that drum kit to the point I'm surprised he didn't come off dizzy.

After this came Saturday, the big one, probably one of Nottingham's most well known festivals, Arnold Festival, This gig was big for us in more ways than one, I'll say it has to be the biggest crowd we've performed to, but its also a gig that we've spent the entire time of being together trying to get on to, I'll admit, I was nervous, as I'm sure everyone was (except Luke, thats probably not good for his 'I'm a hard bastard' look), well in typical Saff style, we had a quick walk around and headed straight for the most important point (your probably thinking the stage, but if you are, you don't really know us, as I'm referring to the bar) after a quick drink, and a quick watch of the other acts, we heard our names and realised it was about time to get the stuff out, we pulled the cars round and unloaded the car, the backstage area was nice, although it was packed, it was right by the river and the sun was out so no one was really complaining, we stood and watched some of the dance acts and had a talk, we could see the audience infront of the stage, I'll admit now, this was the point where the nerves first started, the place was more packed than you realise at the back, once the dancers came off, we got tuned up, got the stuff on stage, and got ready to go out, stood at the side of the stage playing our guitars unplugged as a last minute warm up, as we walked up the stage, lewis flicked on his wireless and we walked in to him playing already, at this point I realised that there was no actual sound coming out from my amp, but I could hear it from the PA, this ment I had to quite quickly run to the front of the stage and stay by the monitors to listen to myself, but it does seem, this was infact, the only issue of the gig for myself and for everyone else :) after that we just played our set with all the ability our hearts (actually with our hands and in Megg's case voice, but you see my point) We did everything we could, did everything as usual, and it really did seem to go down well, this ment we where all quite happy and once we where up there, the nerves stopped, So this is my little (rather long actually) update!

Cheers!

They never said this was going to be easy...

Hi everyone, unfortunately we have to announce that we have had to dismiss Ashley Cleaver as Sapphire Lane's drummer due to commitment and attendance issues. The decision came after last nights gig at The Greyhound in Beeston where Ash told us when we were at the venue, and when he was supposed to be at the venue, that he was at home still and could not make it to the gig - this came after him telling me twice that day that he could definitely make it to the gig with kit and all. This is not the first time we have had issues such as this - because he is such a good drummer we even threw the 3 strikes and you are out thing out of the window but decided at 5 strikes it was several too many times for us and venues to be let down.

Fortunately I (Lewis) played drums last night after having to run around and get a kit together. I think that I and the whole band did a astounding job considering we had just been knocked back by the events of a drummer no-show and the fact that we had never rehearsed as a 4 piece with me on drums before - other than little jams when we were waiting for the aforementioned drummer to arrive at practices and gigs. I would like to say well done to the band for managing to play a whole set with only one guitar and my animal, from the Muppets, like drumming. Also thanks to the people that came to the gig for their support of the band in such a situation.

Another thank you to Zac and Sam Hill for playing a bleedin awesome opening set with myself and Mr. G. Not bad to say we put it together in the space of a week I suppose! You guys really are legends!

On a final note we would like to thank Ashley for his time in the band and then energy that he did bring to the band. It is a real shame that it had to come to this as he is a great drummer but if someone can't be relied on to get to gigs and practices then I think being in a band should be left aside until they know that they can get places. Thanks for the laughs and the good gigs that we did play, good luck with your future and I hope that you enjoy whatever musical things you go on to do.

Thanks everyone, more will be posted at www.sapphirelanemusic.com later today
